Port Arthur is Australia's largest and most important convict site. It has been a tourist destination for more than a century and now attracts more than 250,000 visitors a year. Preserved as a mixture of intact buildings and ruins, it speaks of Australia's convict past, of a time when men of vision and good intention subjected other men and women to what now seems inexcusably brutal punishment.
It took us two days to truly explore and absorb the landscapes of the site. It's amazing how they've spent so much time, effort and resources to retore and continue to conserve this piece of great history.
